DISNEY!!!!!

This could have gone in my "Weekly Roundup" post, but Carter's first trip to Disneyland (and California Adventure) deserves a post unto itself! Yesterday was unquestionably a day we will never forget! Carter behaved liked a little man and waited in all of the lines with NO whining! I am so thankful that I had already read The Highly Sensitive Child, because it helped me know how to approach this trip. While we were bursting at the seams with excitement, Russ, Madison and I remained calm throughout and I think that really helped things go smoothly. Altogether we went on 11 rides and Carter liked them all! We brought sandwiches for lunch and he even ate that (for those of you who don't know, Carter has never been willing to eat a sandwich before so that was great!). To top things off, he even went potty in the toilet (something he hasn't done since Halloween)!! I'm telling ya, it was an amazing day!

Carter really liked Mater's Junkyard Jamboree!

 The moment he spotted McQueen

Carter touched him and said, "Hi, Lightening McQueen." I think it was pretty surreal for him.

Eating lunch like the big boy he is

Us on the Jungle Cruise (another one of his favorites)

On Pirates of the Caribbean...I thought Carter might have been scared, but he really liked it! After we went down the 2 drops he said, "Look! We made it!"

Birds!! Very pretty, but also a little creepy!

We ended our trip with a train ride around Disneyland. Some of the Christmas decorations were still up near "It's a Small World."

We all enjoyed ourselves so much that we want to get passes now. As Carter himself said, it was AWESOME!

Weekly Roundup 12/30 - 1/5/14

My plan for the new year is to actually "write" more posts. I've gotten in the habit (due to lack of time) of basically just posting pictures instead of jotting down my thoughts like I used to. So I've had an idea! I'm still going to posts pictures, but in a different way. Once a week (my goal is on Sundays or Mondays) I'm going to post a "Weekly Roundup" with any photos or activities I want to share from the week (unless it's a "major" event). Then throughout the week I'm going to post about other things. We will see how it works out (and if Carter will let me get on the computer now and then), but that's my plan.

Without further ado, my first "Weekly Roundup!"

Last week finished up Russ' "staycation." He'd been off work since before Christmas and it was lovely! We completed a some projects around the house (mostly cleaning and organizing post-Christmas), went the park a few times and went to Pasadena to check out the Rose Parade floats. We also played lots of  hide and seek (Carter's favorite game right now)! It was a great way to end one year and begin the next!
